Inebolu‘nun köklü denizcilik tarihinden süzülerek günümüze gelen kent kültürüyle oluşmuş sokaklarında adımlarken karşılaşacağınız, zamanın izlerini mütevazı ancak asil bir duruşla sergileyen yapılardan birisi de Historical Port Authority building. Although it is not known exactly when and by whom it was built, the details on its facade and the way it was constructed point to the last quarter of the 19th century or the early 20th century.
Until 1970, this building, which served as the official address of sailors and bargemen steering the rough waters of the Black Sea, was the heart of the maritime trade of the district for many years. In 2007, the building underwent a restoration and today its doors are closed and idle.
However, this silence should not be the end, but the threshold of a new beginning. This building that harbors the deep-rooted maritime memory of Inebolu in its stone walls, “Museum City” vizyonu doğrultusunda yeniden hayat bulmayı bekliyor. Geçmişin fırtınalı günlerinden bugüne ulaşan bu tarihi binanın, ilçenin şanlı denizcilik geçmişini anlatan, yaşayan bir müzeye dönüşmesi, sadece bir yapının kurtarılması değil, İnebolu’nun ruhuna ve mirasına sahip çıkılması demek olacaktır.
