Modest Elegance of Wood Historical Yuvacık Village (Zerveli) Mosque
Located in Yuvacık (Zerveli) Village of Inebolu, this historical mosque is one of the simplest and peaceful examples of woodworking with a history of more than two centuries. With its modest architecture, it invites its visitors to a quiet journey in time.
An inscription on the inner door of the building, dated Hijri 1224 (Gregorian 1810), contains a sincere prayer: “May the building of the mosque be alive for the rest of the world, and may the wah-i-shad be shad in the divan of judgment.” However, the haphazard style of the inscription and the fact that it contains no information about the person who built the mosque indicate that this note was added long after the mosque was built. In this case, it can be said that this building, which is quite similar in architectural style to İnebolu Başköy Mosque, is much older than 1810.
If you happen to be in this region, be sure to add Zerveli Mosque to your itinerary to feel the warmth of the wood and hundreds of years of experience. We strongly recommend that you breathe in the unique historical and spiritual air offered by this modest place.
